Are You Using Linkbait?

If you have a blog, linkbaiting may have become a rule of thumb when writing content. It’s not always a good thing, but it’s not completely evil either. If you’re a blogger, are you using linkbait properly, if at all?.

Definition of Linkbait

Linkbait is any blog post or article that can compel people to react. In the online world, a ‘reaction’ means your website or article will be mentioned and linked to in various places like forums, blogs and even social networks. Because people like discussion online, they won’t be satisfied with just commenting on your posts. If your blog post is interesting enough, people cannot help but say something about it on twitter, facebook etc.. Linkbait is a tool you can use to make your blog popular.

Is Linkbait Always a Good Thing?

Whether or not linkbait is good depends on how you use it. If you have a blog that most parents read, talking about a controversial parenting topic is a good linkbait. A bad linkbait is something that puts you in a bad light, like an extremely biased opinion on a controversial topic. But some people will argue that linkbait, no matter what kind of reaction it incites, is good.

Linkbait Writing 101

There are certain types of posts or content that seem to attract much linking. How-to guides with high value content can wow people. If you’re opinionated, you might want to write a controversial opinion article on a hot topic. Insider tell-alls or “exposure” articles are always effective as linkbaits, but they can have legal repercussions.

Inflammatory pieces are the baser end of the “controversy” scale. It’s like the tabloids that we secretly buy from the convenience store when no one’s looking.

If you’re still confused, here’s a rule I use when linkbaiting… never post something that you cannot stand up for.

Use “Link Love” as Linkbait

Sometimes, reacting to other people’s opinion can be the most effective linkbait. Linking out to another blogger by reacting to his or her post can be very effective if your intention is to draw attention. Moreover, if the other blogger uses WordPress, your blog post’s URL will instantly appear on the blogger’s website as trackback.

A blog or any website you own is a way to communicate with people. Your website will attract a certain audience. Your blog will start to become popular when people from all over start to visit and communicate with you. Being a blogger, you should always write posts that other people can proudly share on other sites. Keep your audience in mind when link baiting.

Is Email Marketing A Good Tool For Your Business?

It’s possible to collect leads using your homepage by using email marketing. Email is the first thing that people look at online, which should tell you something. In case you have any doubts about how this can benefit your business, here are five reasons why email marketing is a positive choice for your business needs.

1. Low-cost

Email marketing fees are just pocket change, they won’t cost you an arm and a leg like other advertising methods do. Aweber and Constant Contact are two of the popular email marketing programs out there.

2. Fast

It takes a simple matter of minutes to get as much information about your contacts, as it does to send information to them with email marketing. This is the most personalized way to tell your leads about promotions and news.

3. Higher return on your investment

You can collect subscribers to your mailing list, which are likely to convert into sales. If you’re targeting a particular group of people, email marketing will help you distinguish between regular website visitors and those who are really interested in buying. When you have a customer list on hand, sending them information on new products should be easy.

4. Up Close and Personal

Sales come in when your customers trust you to provide personalized service. You can constantly keep in touch with potential customers by email so that they never forget about you or your website. The best part is that you can mass email your customers so you don’t have to write to them one by one. Your email messages won’t be generic because the program allows you to automatically insert the name that the subscriber used to sign up.

5. Loyal traffic

Targeted email campaigns such as newsletters or sales announcements with a link to your website have approximately a 30 to 50% chance of obtaining a new customer, a sale or both. By using call to action phrases like “check this out” or “look at this page”, you can prompt your readers to visit your website again and again.

Your website shouldn’t be without a sign up form if you want to continue earning. This opportunity is a powerful way to bring your business up a notch without breaking the bank or using up valuable time needed on other aspects of your business.
